The Year That Was... Part 1

As the year draws to a close I thought it was time to share the years highlights! Below are some of my favourite shots from some of the great gigs of 2007. Happy New Year!
Robert Smith from The Cure showed that they still have what it takes to play a blistering set at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in August.

On the theme of veteran rockers, Alice Cooper blew people away at Thebarton Theatre in July.

The biggest show of the year went to Adelaide's own, Hilltop Hoods who managed to blend their hip-hop sound with the full Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Amazing!

Kasabian played to a large crowd at the Adelaide Big Day Out and really impressed.

Dinosaur Jr get the gong for the loudest show of the year! They blew eardrums at the Governor Hindmarsh in July.
Stay tuned for part 2...

Maximo Park

Thinking back through the great gigs I have been to this year I thought of Maximo Park who played one of the shows of the year at Fowlers Live in August.

I'm on Holidays!

I'm currently enjoying 4 months of touring the world! So for those of you who check this site, sorry!
I will endevour to post more gig pics that haven't made it up when I get some time! There is quite a bit to catch up on!
Stay tuned early next year for Big Day Out photos and many more!

Cheers

Countdown Spectacular 2 Promo Shoot

I was trawling back through some photos before I head overseas for a few months and found this shot which I took for dB Magazine to promote the Countdown Spectacular 2 Concerts about 2 months ago. The photo is of John Paul Young, Richard Clapton and Martha Davis.

I was only given about 3 minutes with them and it was all very rushed as they were running late to get to a radio interview on the other side of town but they were all really nice about it! Whilst the interview was being done I found the "Star Suite" door and thought it summed up the event.

Update 2 - The Cure

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to shoot The Cure for dB Magazine. From all reports it was a really great show! (I couldn't stay) It has been a really busy couple of months for gigs in Adelaide and late September/October are going to be even crazier!

Update 1 - Black Sabbath

A couple of weekends ago I was lucky enough to shoot three huge shows - Black Sabbath, The Shins and The Cure! I was in photographers heaven.

At the Black Sabbath show which was called Heaven and Hell as Ozzy Osbourne wasn't involved I was the only photographer. Even in Adelaide this is extremely rare! The band was touring the "Dio Years" which was the short time where Ronnie James Dio was the frontman for the group.

They were supported by "Down" who are fronted by ex-Pantera boy, Phil. It was a really loud rock'n show! More photos at Fasterlouder.

Dinosaur Jr

J Mascis

I was lucky enough last night to shoot one of the bands that I have always wanted to see, Dinosaur Jr. I wouldn't say that I am a huge fan but I think that they make great loud music. They didn't disappoint last night putting on a stellar show at The Gov. To see more photos check out Fasterlouder or My Gallery.

Alice Cooper

Last night I shot the Adelaide leg of the Alice Cooper tour at Thebarton Theatre. I only got to stay for the first four songs but from what I saw and heard it would have been a great show! I was shooting the show for local street press, dB Magazine.

Adelaide Make Poverty History Gig

Room One

Last week I shot the Adelaide leg of the Make Poverty History gig. The idea was that there would be a concert in major centres then buses of Australia's youth would travel to Sydney spreading the Make Poverty History message.

Unfortunately the Adelaide show was not well publicised and it as held on a Monday night which did not help things. That aside, the event saw local act 'Room One' play there largest gig to date. Other acts to feature on the night were Lowrider, Guy Sebastian, Dukes of Windsor and Bliss n Eso. Below are a few photos from the night.

Lowrider

Guy Sebastian

Dukes of Windsor

Stay tuned for more photos and updates! Still to come (When I get time!) photos from Xzibit at Thebby Theatre, The Black Keys and more!

Hilltops Hoods Restrung

Last night I was lucky enough to shoot local hip-hop legends, The Hilltop Hoods in a once off gig with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. It was quite a hard gig to shoot to shoot becuase the ASO were right up the back and hidden in the dark a bit aswell as big smoke machines clogging up the air!

The sold out gig at The Adelaide Entertainment Centre was absolutely amazing. Mixing a 31 piece orchestra with one of Australia's most successful hip-hop groups was a risk...which paided off!
