It's coming...

There's been a hold up! I'm interstate for a the next week or so and as a result I won't be able to launch the new site until I am back...
In the meantime head on over to the Triple J website and check out my first shoot for them. I shot Kisschasy and Regular John at HQ in Adelaide on a cold, wet weeknight!

New Site Coming!

My new site is almost ready to launch which is very exciting! Check back over the next week or two to see the newly designed website for Rockpics. I will still be keeping the blog up and going but have built a new fancy website to showcase my photos in a more user friendly format.

Big Day Out 2010 Announced...And an Extra Show

Big Day Out Headliner, Muse

Just over two weeks ago the Big Day Out 2010 lineup was announced. There has been a lot of debate about the strength of next years lineup considering many of the bands are bands that tour Australia a lot or have played the Big Day Out many times.

All that aside, the Sydney Big Day Out sold out in a reported ten minutes... so much for a weak lineup! This morning a second Sydney show was announced which will be only the second time this has happened in the Big Day Out's history.

The main acts confirmed with the first announcement are Muse, Powderfinger, Eskimo Joe, Grinspoon, Kasabian, Lily Allen, Mars Volta, Groove Armada, Rise Against, Girl Talk and Mastodon.

What will the second announcement bring??

Stuck With My Leg Up!

Gyroscope

The Living End

I had surgery last week on my ankle so haven't been able to shoot anything... but looking back through some photos from earlier this year I found some shots that hadn't seen the light of day. I was shooting the Clipsal 500 concert in Adelaide for Fasterlouder featuring local lads The Shiny Brights as well as The Butterfly Effect, Gyroscope and The Living End.

The Shiny Brights

I hope to update this blog (and start building my new site) over the next few weeks while my leg is up! Stay tuned for photos from the recent All American Rejects Tour and more from Eskimo Joe and Soundwave.

Eskimo Joe @ Thebarton Theatre Part 1

Last Night I took photos of Eskimo Joe for dB Magazine at Thebarton Theatre. It had been a while since I had seen these guys play. The last time I took pics of them was Falls Festival 2007.

I can still remember taking pictures these guys play as a three-piece in the front bar of the Holdfast Hotel in Glenelg to a room of about 100 people back in about 2001 when they were relatively unknown.... how things have changed for these guys.

More Photos to come.

Billy Talent at Soundwave

I finally found some time to look through some old photos on the weekend. The ones that caught my eye were from The Soundwave Festival earlier this year and in particular photos of Billy Talent. Ben Kowalewicz is such a great guy to take photos of because of the emotion he puts into every move as you can see from these pics.

A busier couple of months coming up gig wise with the Hilltop Hoods returning to Adelaide this weekend which should make for some good photos! Stay tuned...

Womadelaide 2009

Another Womadelaide world music festival has just finished and what a fine 3 days of world food, music and arts it was!! Arts Projects Australia definately know how to put on a show!

There were plenty of highlights but for me the stand outs were Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, Rokia Traore, Neil Finn, The Cat Empire and Ska Cubana. Womadelaide truly is a feast for the senses!

Updates, Updates, Updates!

Hhmmm, haven't been around for a while which is disappointing. As a result there are many updates to be had! Below are photos of Nine Inch Nails who I shot yesterday as part of the Soundwave 2009 Australian Tour for old trusty dB Magazine.

I had never seen so many lights for one band, they even put out a warning to epileptic people to be aware!

The Subways

New Found Glory

It was a long, hot, dusty day but some great bands and great photos to boot!

I have finally decided to get off my butt and try to keep this site regularly updated... Stay tuned over the next couple of weeks for updates from the Big Day Out Tour last month, Jose Gonzalez, and Womadelaide 09 which I am shooting over the upcoming weekend.
